Christingle Service Years 1-3 held their annual Christingle Service in St. Mary Magdalene. The Christingle is seen as a calm and reflective start to the Chritmas season before excitement of Christmas dinner, decorations and presents! It's an informal little gathering where we can share the meaning of Christmas. The full gallery of photos is available to view in the password-protected area of the website. A collection was taken for the Nomad Trust. Many thanks to all at the church who assisted with the service. Yesterday we went to St. Mary Magdalen Church for a spectacular Christingle Service. I was very excited, I was going to sing and say my prayer. When we got there, year three started the service by singing Baby Sleeping, it is a beautiful song. Then the year ones told us what the parts of a Christingle stand for. After that year three sang Turn Down the Lights. Then we lit our candles and Poppy and I said our prayers. 3N said a prayer together. After that the lady told us about the Advent Wreath. When we went back to school by the Cathedral it was very windy. My candle blew off! When we got back we had hot chocolate. Alisdair said he didn't like it! It had been a busy morning. Chetan, Year 3 On Wednesday morning we were going to the Christingle. We had given our money to the Nomad Trust. Then we set off with our Christingles in our hands. As we walked further it got windier and windier and some children's sweets fell off their Christingles. Then we got there. We all had to go to the front and get in our places and sang some carols. First we sang Baby Sleeping. I got a bit stuck on Quiet and Cosy but after that I was okay. The audience loved it, but now it wa stime for Year ones to do their thing so we sat down. The Year ones were telling us how to make a Christingle and it was interesting. Then it was our turn again. We sang Turn Down the Lights. I was on the first row with Ellie, Alasdair, Harrison, Lotte, Lucy, Amelia and Marcus. We all sang the first verse on our own. Then we sang Away in a Manger. I got a bit stuck again on the second verse. We had finished so now it was year 2's go. They told us the story of baby Jesus. Then we walked back to school and when we got back we had hot chocolate. Alice, Year 3
